Chipjet Solves 3 Most Common Error Messages with HP NeverStop Printers

HP’s recently launched, “fill-it-yourself” NeverStop (NS) printers have hit some hurdles with end-users saying they do not understand the error messages and how to solve them.

In response, Hangzhou-based Chipjet has examined the error messages being shown to end-users and has identified the three most common problems, and how to solve the problems.

Chipjet has published other “solutions” articles as it continues to position itself as a global solutions provider. As a chip developer and manufacturer, its previous “help” articles have focused upon printer firmware updates impacting end-users using aftermarket printer cartridges.

Now the company has posted advice about the HP Laser NS 1020/MFP 1005 series multi-functional printers.

The three most common error messages, according to ChipJet, are:

1. the toner refill indicator blinks rapidly
   • reason: if the toner reload kit is removed before the plunger is pushed right to the bottom of the canister, during the refilling process, the added toner amount can’t be measured accurately, which causes the printer to give an error status:
     • for the NS 1020: the indicator on filling hole blinks fast; the indicator “+1” or “+2” which represents consumables level on the display screen disappears;
     • for the MFP1005:  Er/31 or Er/34 displays on the LED screen and indicator on the reload port blinks fast; the indicator “+1” or “+2” which represents consumables level disappears.
   • solution: insert the toner reload kit back into the reload port and rotate it clockwise 180°, then press the plunger to the bottom until it clicks which means the kit has been installed successfully.
2. the indicator turns yellow and blinks rapidly
   • reason: there is some problem with the installed toner reload kit which causes it to be unrecognized by the printer.
   • solution:
     • remove the toner reload kit and check if its model is suitable with the printer or not.
     • Check if the chip on the toner reload kit is covered with foreign substances or not; if so, please clean it.
3. the reload port is rotatable
   • reason: before a toner low or toner empty message displays, a toner reload kit is rotated forcibly which leads to physical damage to the interior device of the reload port. This action could cause bad impermeability of the reload port which can be rotated easily, leading to leakage of toner from the toner cartridge.
   • solution:
     • contact a professional serviceman for repair as soon as possible and don’t handle by yourself in case of more serious damage;
     • refill toner only when a toner low or toner empty message displays and operate according to the correct instructions. When there is no toner refill message or error message, do NOT refill toner.
