Canon Canada Welcomes New President

Canon Canada has selected Isao (Sammy) Kobayashi as its new president and CEO.

In his new role at Canon Canada, he will succeed Nobuhiko Kitajima, who is retiring after 42 years with the global organization.

“I am humbled and grateful for the opportunity to work at Canon Canada,” says Kobayashi. “I have heard so many great things about the Canadian team, and I am looking forward to learning more about our customers, partners, and dealers, to see how we can all work together and expand opportunities in the Canadian market.”

Kobayashi holds a degree in political science and economics from Japan’s Meiji University. He has been with the company since 1990, when he joined Canon Inc. in a sales role in the photocopier division. From there, he progressed through various roles over the next 15 years.

In 2005, Kobayashi joined Canon U.S.A. as an assistant manager in the inkjet printer group. Following a number of promotions, he became a vice-president in the Imaging Technologies and Communications Group in 2020, where he oversaw the company’s consumer imaging products. In 2021, Kobayashi was asked to lead Canon’s Hybrid-Workplace Solutions Group (HSG), to address the increased demand for product solutions to meet the needs of the hybrid workstyles born out of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Last year, Kobayashi was promoted to senior vice-president and general manager of HSG. He was also named an executive officer of Canon Inc.
