Ricoh Acquires Full Ownership of PFU
Ricoh has announced the acquisition of the remaining 20% of shares in PFU Limited, which was once jointly owned by Ricoh and Fujitsu Limited, making PFU a wholly owned subsidiary.
This move follows Ricoh’s initial purchase of an 80% stake in September 2022, solidifying its control over the company. The acquisition was approved by Ricoh’s Board of Directors on March 4, 2025, with the share transfer set to take place on March 7, 2025.
With PFU now fully under Ricoh’s umbrella, the company aims to enhance its position in digital workflow and IT services. PFU, a leading provider of document scanners, embedded computers, and IT services, plays a crucial role in the digital transformation of businesses by offering solutions that serve as entry points for digitalization.
PFU’s expertise in scanner technology, industrial computing, and managed services aligns with Ricoh’s strategy to expand beyond traditional print hardware. Ricoh plans to integrate PFU’s technology into its cloud-based workflow solutions, cybersecurity offerings, and enterprise IT services, further driving its evolution as a digital services provider.
Despite the ownership change, PFU will continue to operate under its existing brand structure. Fujitsu-branded scanners will remain available, but Ricoh will now oversee the company’s strategic direction. The acquisition is expected to facilitate deeper integration of PFU’s technology into Ricoh’s broader product ecosystem, enhancing automation and efficiency for customers.
Ricoh has stated that the impact of the acquisition on its current fiscal year’s financial results will be minimal. However, as the integration progresses, the company anticipates long-term benefits in expanding its IT and digital services portfolio.
By fully incorporating PFU, Ricoh reinforces its commitment to driving digital transformation, helping businesses optimize workflows, and adapting to the evolving demands of the modern workplace.
